Biyoglu, 1431 3rd Ave at 81st St [TURKISH]
– Some of the better Turkish food I’ve eaten in the city. Great Pita, Salads, Hummus and Eggplant and pretty much everything on their Mezze menu! Good service and reasonable prices too, for the UES!

Jones Wood Foundry, 401E 76th St [GASTROPUB]
– A buzzing bar up front, a skylight adorned communal room, a cozy dining area and a seasonal garden – all of it in a classic English pub style – make up the Upper East Side’s newest hangout. The Beer line up is impressive, featuring plenty of English favourites – Fullers, Murphy’s and Boddingtons to name a few – as well as Cask Ales. Prices are what one would expect in the UES, and the service, excellent!

Joy Burger, 1567 Lexington Ave at 100th St [AMERICAN]
– If your looking for a good, lean burger with inventive sauces and toppings, this is your best bet! Cosy place, friendly service and even friendlier prices! New location in the West Village.

Land Northeast, 1565 2nd Ave at 81st St [THAI]
– Tight space, often packed, this little 2nd Ave eatery serves up some delicious and hot (read spicy!) Thai food. They have a second location on the UWS.

Malaga, 406E 73rd St [SPANISH]
– Family run eatery, dating back to the 70s, with a cosy, old fashioned bar area upfront and a large family style dining room in the rear. Good selection of Spanish beers and fairly decent food! A little pricey!

Maison Kayser, 1535 3rd Ave [FRENCH / BAKERY]
– With an inviting bakery section upfront and a large bright dining area adjoining it, Maison Kayser literally spoils you for choice when it comes to breakfast or brunch offerings. The coffee is strong, the bread is good, and their egg dishes are not just huge but also extremely satisfying. Ordering a la carte from the bakery is another good option, if your not bringing a large appetite. Multiple locations in the city.

Ottomanelli’s Cafe, 1626 York Ave on 86th St [ITALIAN]
– If your craving home style Italian cooking, Ottomanelli’s has it all! Good Pastas and Pizzas, if not a little greasy. Cute setting complete with checkered table covers!

Persepolis, 1407 2nd Ave [PERSIAN]
– This restaurant is worthy of mention alone for the fact that it serves a cuisine rarely found around NYC. One that should not be confused with your standard Middle Eastern restaurant, of which the city has loads. This is also the closest one would get to Parsi food, back in India! Their apps, salads and rice dishes (cherry-infused) are all very good, as are their protein entrees. Good servings – a lot of them shareable – and well priced too.

The Jeffrey, 311E 60th St [GASTROPUB]
– On an almost desolate stretch of 60th St, The Jeffrey is a breadth of fresh air for this part of town, in more ways than one! A well curated, expansive list of Craft Beers, Wines and Cocktails, with a gastropub menu to boot. Cozy, wood-paneled interiors, conducive to groups and singles alike, and to top it off, a beer garden at the back!

Two Little Red Hens, 1652 2nd Ave at 86th St [BAKERY]
– This tiny little bakery and cafe can easily be overlooked while walking along 2nd Ave. Don’t make that mistake though! Step in for an amazing selection of cakes (there Brooklyn Blackout is the best!), pies and more.
